Nail Polish for Melcolm !
Don't be mistaken, we're not doing manicure or pedicure for Melcolm. This nail polish will stop him from sucking his fingers as it has a bitter taste :p
Parent Teacher Conference
Today we meet up with teacher Janet for the bi-annual parents teacher conference. It is around a half an hour session to talk about Melcolm's progress in school so far. Here are some of the comments from both his teachers. The chinese teacher handwriting was very "chim", luckily my chinese didnt fail me ! The comments from teacher Janet as above :
Communication - Melcolm has a pleasant personality and is a well-behaved pupil in class. He shows interest in story reading and displays enthusiasm for learning. He speaks fluently and with confidence. He is comfortable when integrating and communicating with his classmates and teachers alike.
Seatwork - Melcolm is an attentive and adorable student who enjoys participating in conversation and discussion in class. However, he is easily distracted especially during written work.
Social - Melcolm enjoys being with his classmates and teachers and is a friendly student in class. He is comfortable when interacting with his classmates and teachers alike. Melcolm needs to be encouraged to become more self-reliant in the classroom.
General - Overall, Melcolm has demonstrated a keen enthusiasm for learning especially an interest in learning new things. He has put significant effort in all subjects and has shown great improvement academically. It is a pleasure to have him in our class. Well done, Melcolm !

Melcolm's 1st Visit to the Dentist
Recently Melcolm refuse to brush his teeth and had been complaining to us his teeth were painful. As we are not sure whether he is bluffing us, I decided to bring him to the dentist. All along I had wanted to bring him to the dentist after he pass 2yrs old but keep delaying.
We were slightly late for the dental appointment and he was cranky along the way. He's still sick and recovering, feeling drowsy from the medication. We were worried that the dentist will have much difficulties to check his teeth. Glad to say that all those worries did not come true, once he enter the room, he follow the dentist and his assistant instructions very well. I must really praise him that he's really brave to open his mouth to not only let the dentist check but also clean his teeth with those "scary" dental equipments for a 1st timer like him. Towards the end of the cleaning, his face starts to sulk and I knew that he will cry anytime so we faster calm him down. Before he can cry, everything was over. Bravo & Well Done Melcolm :)
During the dental check, we were told that generally his teeth are ok. However, we need to stop him from sucking his fingers as soon as possible as the sucking action are causing his front teeth to grow outwards. The dentist said it was quite bad already and told us to stop him hopefully before he turns 4yrs old. We were been told to go to the pharmacy to buy those bitter lotion to apply on his fingers. I'm really glad he visited the dentist today. Help, time to go to the pharmacy !
